Hey, remember when I used to post comic stuff!? The above is an alt take on the next page of Astounding Tales of Hero Fiction. It’s a homage of issue 3 of John Bryne’s ‘Man of Steel’ from the 80’s. But once I wanted to use this study in the comic pages, I realised that Zero-Point was coming in at the wrong side and too close to the criminals. The bottom pencils is what will be used in the final page, plus it looks way more dynamic!
Not the usual art that I post, but I’ve started to dabble in digital painting and have been following the tutorials from Ctrl+Paint.com. While the tutorials are for painting in Photoshop, Manga Studio 5’s paint brushes and layer structure is almost exactly the same. Kinda forgotten how fun it is to learn art for art’s sake.
My webcomic Astounding Tales of Hero Fiction will be having a slight hiatus as I brush up on my artist skills. All my artistic energy goes into creating this comic, so I haven’t had much time to experiment and practice important art fundamentals (composition, colour theory, light, line shape, form and value etc).
Stay tuned for incoming art stuff on this tumblr, and more Astounding Tales of Hero Fiction in a few weeks!
